I know what a wedding needs from me. I’ll frame the light and direct the details when the photo calls for it, but I’ve also learned when something is already happening exactly as it should. That instinct is where my editorial and documentary work meet.
I’m watching the people around you just as closely as I’m watching you. I never feel like I have to sacrifice time with my couples to see their guests, or vice versa. I’m always searching for what’s important to you and I’m observing what’s important to your people. Those are the photos that can feel ordinary in the moment but stay glowing golden in your memory.
My dad has been part of every version of me, and every version of this business. As he gets older, I notice time differently. I notice the parents, the grandparents, the people standing just outside the center of the day. Loving him through change has taught me that some photos become more important long after you take them. You need to have those photos for when they will matter most.
